Applying For a Student Loan

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lorna_Mclaren]Lorna Mclaren Studying at college can be an expensive business and you are likely to be considering taking out a Student Loan to help you meet all our costs. Before you make a decision on which of the thousands of Student Loans that are available is right for you it is important to weigh up all your options. It is important that you apply for all possible Government Financial Aid. Your school’s financial aid office can supply you with the forms and all deadlines for federal and state applications. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA form) is the only form you must file with the Federal Government. You will receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) around four-six weeks after completing your FAFSA. It will provide you with details on your federal and state aid eligibility and give you your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Financial Aid offices will use the information contained in the SAR to determine your total aid package, including loan eligibility and federal work study qualification. You can then use this information to help determine how much you need to borrow with a Student Loan. Many Student Loans dont require you to start repayments until you have been working for six months after graduation. This gives you a chance to start earning some money before your monthly committments start regarding your loan. Lorna Mclaren has an information website http://www.123-debt-consolidation-loans.com where you can get information regarding Student Loans and where to apply. Your Snowflake Stopper Could Keep Your Summer Wedding Nice and Cool

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Terry Price When it comes to planning your wedding, there are plenty of things you need to think about and there never seems to be enough time to do them all! There are lots of different topics that you should be familiar with prior to planning and arranging your wedding. Everything from flowers to photographers, right down to the snowflake shaped wine stopper. You should do some homework so your wedding day will be the truly enjoyable event that you want it to be! You have only one chance to make this day as perfect as possible. When booking your reception hall, there are some important questions you need to ask. Once you’ve narrowed down the venue or location you want, here are significant things you need to ask. When it comes to interviewing the management, keep in mind that you are not there just doing them a favor. They are a business and you are hiring this company to provide a very important service, so you shouldn’t hesitate to ask them all the questions you want. Before any funds are turned over, make sure first of all you are dealing with a reputable company and that your representative is experienced. Ask how long the company has been in business, and how many events they have hosted, and if in fact, they have hosted weddings the same size you are planning. Ensure they have up-to-date health permits and proper licenses, and ask what kind of insurance coverage they have. Always ask for several references and phone numbers of folks they have served in the past. Be sure to follow up. Call these people and do some digging to see what their experience has been. Find out, for instance, whether the snowflake wine stopper is included in the price, or not. You will find that the majority of reception halls just rent out the space, and everything else including those special wedding favors you may want, you will have to supply yourself. In fact, you may have to supply the chairs, tables, table settings, favors, food and even the servers! On the other side of the coin, there are halls that offer package deals and take care of everything which includes the setup, clean-up, food, favors, stocked bar, servers, wedding cake, champagne toast, valet parking, coat check and yes, even the silver snowflake stopper, if you’ve requested it. You’ll find that most reception halls fall somewhere in between these two extremes. If the hall offers on-site catering, don’t make the assumption that they will automatically provide tableware, glassware or even the flatware, as this cost might be extra. If you’re planning a casual wedding with a potluck buffet to cut costs, make sure the hall can accommodate that arrangement. Be sure to check if the servers, coat check, valet parking, etc, are included in the cost, or if there is there an additional cost. How about providing food or beverages for your band or DJ, for the wedding professionals and the photographer, and are they included in the head count. Get an itemized list of everything they include right down to the snowflake stopper, if you request it! Ask also about which services they do not offer, just to be very clear. How about other events planned for the same day? Many halls have multiple event rooms and you need to know exactly what type of event is going on before, during, and after your wedding reception. Are the rooms divided by removable partitions? This is important as you could get DJ sounds pouring through from another event and drowning out your band. If your event lasts a long time, will you have to hurry your guests out to accommodate another crowd coming in? This is especially important during the busy wedding season, which falls between May and October. Saturdays, also, are the most popular day, so remember that a popular facility with multiple halls may be fully booked and hosting more than one event. Know exactly what you can expect and ask the managers how they are prepared to handle the crowds. In the event something goes wrong, find out whether office staff or management will be on site for the event. This is important as your parking valet may not show up or the plumbing in one of the bathrooms may pose a problem. If something does go wrong, you will want the peace of mind to know that a qualified person will have the experience and authority to take care of the crisis for you. Know where to find them and request that a person with qualifications and experience is provided. Finally, get a detailed explanation of their financial policies, when the deposit is due, how much they require, are installment payments acceptable, and when the final payment is due. Also, are there overtime charges, if so how much and what is their refund policy? Are there any guarantees or warranties? Get everything in writing so there are no misunderstandings, and get a complete understanding of each issue before you sign up! Smart Business Owners Advertise with Two Things in Mind

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Holly George The marketing field is flooded with sources and experts. How does a business owner weed through these sources - and all their advice - to find someone who can help grow businesses effectively and affordably? Smart business owners always advertise with two things in mind: 1. The Ten Commandments of Marketing; 2. The Ten Commandments of the Bible. The Ten Commandments of Marketing 1. Get a marketing plan. Even the simplest of plans can help business owners avoid wasting literally thousands of dollars and sometimes years of lost business growth. 2. A business owners main focus should be on growing business. Hire consultants to handle accounting, taxes, marketing or any other tasks that may distract from growing business. 3. Business owners should know their customers. Their customer is not they or their spouse or their best friend. They should constantly talk to real customers and test their message on them. 4. Pick a niche. No one is going to believe that one business or product is the best, the fastest and the cheapest. Pick one. And stick with it. 5. Advertise products benefits - not their features. Customers dont care about the 786-megawatt superconductor. They just want to know how its going to save them time, make them money or improve their image. 6. Specialized products should be advertised through direct media channels. Products offering something for everyone should be advertised through mass media channels. 7, Keep words to a minimum. Enough said. 8. Generally, prospects need to hear or see a message at least nine times. Generally, prospects need to hear or see a message at least nine times. Generally… 9. Stay ahead of customers. Stick with what works, but watch sales trends. If trends start changing, products and/or marketing mix may need a change. 10. Free advertising is the best kind. If something is really newsworthy, let the media know. The Ten Commandments of the Bible Being aware of the Ten Commandments of the Bible will help business owners select a good marketing specialist. Most marketing specialists probably cant recite the Commandments. But they should know they frown on stealing, lying, cheating, and a few other things. A good marketing specialist will ask a lot of questions; theyll give some free advice; theyll provide a very close estimate and guarantee to work within the estimated boundaries. In short, they dont lie, cheat or steal. Smart business owners listen to their gut instincts to find a good marketing consultant. A good one will ask a lot of questions about the specific business, its history, its successes and failures. Theyll ask where the owner thinks the business should go; theyll give some free advice; they’ll provide a very close estimate for the work they recommend; theyll guarantee to work within the estimated boundaries. In short, theyll care about the Client. If they dont, move on. This sounds like simple advice, but its surprising how many business owners throw out these rules and dont listen to their gut instincts. By following the Ten Commandments of Marketing and the Ten Commandments of the Holy Bible, success will come easier. All business owners seem to do a lot of praying when it comes to the state of their business anyway, so it just seems fitting to tie the two together. Recycling Resolutions

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Dawn Burden Bates Happy New Year! It’s not too late to make your recycling resolutions. The holidays are finally over and we can all hopefully begin slowing down and getting our lives back to normal. If your home is like mine, the holidays left you with a huge mess. Empty boxes and torn wrapping paper litter the floor after the kids excitedly open their gifts. It’s so tempting to gather it all up and through it in the outside garbage bin. But this is a great opportunity to not only recycle, but to reuse. Almost all of the wrapping paper and boxes can be recycled, so consider keeping your contribution out of the landfill. And for the reuse possibilities…they are practically endless. I’m pretty sure that most of the ribbons I use have been used for several years. And many of the boxes that hold the gifts are great to use for packaging gifts next year. Do you realize that many stores now CHARGE you for a gift box? Sheesh, I’ll save mine for next year, thank you. Not to mention the gift bags. I LOVE getting my gifts in those pretty little bags. Especially since I know I will be using it for someone else’s gift somewhere down the road. Do you know how much those things cost? They are outrageous. No way would I throw them away. They are too valuable. Now what are we to do with the tree? If you use an artificial tree, it’s a pretty easy decision. You fold it up and store it for next year. Simple. And if you are lucky enough to live in a warm environment and purchased a live tree including the root ball, you can get to work planting it in your yard to enjoy for years to come. But what about cut trees? Most communities offer some sort of Christmas tree recycling. The lucky ones have curbside pickup to recycle their trees. The rest of us need to decide what to do. What convinces me to haul the tree to the recycling facility is a couple of things.I was willing to haul it home after I purchased it, so I can just as easily take it to be recycled. Some communities use the old trees to shred and cover pathways and trails through parks. This helps to repair and reduce the damage we create as we enjoy our hikes. Some communities turn the old trees into mulch and then provide it to the public for free! What a deal. Spring is just right around the corner, by the way. So that pretty much covers what we can do to reduce our holiday effect on the environment. Now it’s a new year and we can begin thinking about getting a fresh start. Some resolutions to consider: - Resolve to begin recycling if you don’t already. You can start small. This site provides a wealth of information about getting your recycling efforts off the ground. - If you already recycle, step it up a notch. If your curbside recycling service doesn’t accept a particular item (like glass or cardboard), resolve to begin taking that item to the drop off facility in your area. - Resolve to purchase more products packaged with post consumer recycled materials. The higher the percentage listed on the package, the better. - Resolve to purchase more items made from recycled materials. Paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, and many other paper products fall into this category. - Resolve to purchase more items in bulk, thus reducing packaging waste. - Resolve to create at least one creative craft using something you might otherwise throw away. This is fun, gets your creative juices flowing, can reduce stress, and is a g reat way to spend some quality time with your family. 7 Steps for Choosing the Right Wedding Shoes

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Heather Robinson 7 Steps for Picking the Right Wedding Shoes What girl doesn’t love shopping for shoes? Wedding shoes are no different. There are many styles of wedding shoes out there, so let’s make sure you pick the right ones! If you are like most women, on more than one occasion, you have worn a pair of cute strappy heels and hours later, with your feet aching like they never have before, wonder if those shoes were really worth the pain! You would think that we would have learned from our first aching feet experience. However, more times than not, we do it again! This is not the position that you want to find yourself, or your feet in, at your wedding! Your wedding is all about comfort! The best part is that you do not have to forfeit style for comfort. The trick is to find shoes that are stylish and comfortable. Wedding Shoes Tips 1. Never worn heels before? Your wedding day is NOT the day to start! Your feet will be in a state of shock. Try a shoe with a low heel or wear a satin ballerina slipper instead. 2. Buy your shoes early, preferably at the same time or soon after you purchase your wedding dress. You need to know how well they coordinate with your dress. You will also need to take them with you to your tailor so that your dress can be hemmed accordingly. 3. Take into consideration the embellishments on your wedding dress. A rhinestone shoe may not coordinate well with a pearl embellished dress. 4. If you do buy heels, break them in. Do not wait until your wedding day to wear them for an extended period of time. Breaking them in before hand will ensure comfort on your wedding day. 5. Keep your groom in mind! Try not to buy shoes that will leave you towering over him at the altar. It is not considerate nor will it look good in your pictures. 6. If you are on a budget, buying wedding shoes can be a good place to save a few bucks. The majority of wedding dresses worn are floor length. Therefore, wedding shoes are rarely seen anyway. Borrow a pair of wedding shoes or buy an inexpensive pair. 7. Consider purchasing two pairs of shoes. Many brides opt to wear a more comfortable pair of shoes at their receptions. DIY Tip: Buy a pair of white flip flops and add Swarvoski crystals to the straps. Change into them on the way to your reception and it is comfort all night long! To tell you the truth….Many bridesmaids often bring comfortable shoes to change into anyway, so why not go along with it? Whatever pair of wedding shoes you choose make sure that they are comfortable! You don’t want to look back on your wedding day and remember how bad your feet hurt! Make your feet happy and you will be happy! For more great wedding planning ideas visit http://www.wedding-planning-resource.com The Ultimate Guide to Weddings and Wedding Planning. Winning at Post-Partum Weight Loss: Six Simple Strategies for New Moms - Part 1

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Susan Peach A healthy pregnancy almost always involves weight gain. But now that babys here, youre probably wishing those extra pounds would hurry up and disappear! While it wont happen overnight, these six simple tips can help you lose that extra weight in a healthy way. (If youre looking for parts 2 and 3 of this article, you can find them both at http://www.mambomoms.com/articles.html) 1) Try to relax and dont be in too much of a hurry to lose your extra pregnancy weight. Remember, it took 9 months for you to put it on, and you should give yourself at least half that amount of time to take it back off. In fact, eight to 12 months is not an unreasonable amount of time to give yourself. And even if it does take a year to get back to your pre-pregnancy size and shape, those pounds are all the more likely to stay off because youve lost them gradually. You definitely should not be thinking about weight loss at all in the early post-partum weeks. Your body needs this time to recover from giving birth, readjust to its pre-pregnancy state, and establish a milk supply for your baby. Besides, most new moms find that a fair amount of weight tends to melt off all by itself in these first few weeks as excess fluids retained in late pregnancy are gradually shed. Remember that gradual weight loss based on sensible nutrition and enjoyable physical activity is the best path to permanent weight loss. This applies whether or not weight gain is due to pregnancy, but when you are dealing with all the changes and adjustments that come with having a new baby, its all the more important to take a slow and steady approach so you dont add to your stress level. And speaking of stress, recent research shows that when youre stressed, your body releases hormones that can contribute to weight gain. So try not to add to your stress level at this time by putting unreasonable pressure on yourself to lose that extra weight too fast. Instead, take a long term approach and be sure to incorporate some kind of relaxation into your day, whether its having a nap, a warm bath, or receiving a relaxing back massage. 2) Eat well and nourish yourself with healthy foods so youll have the energy you need to care for yourself and your baby. If you restrict your calories youll probably get tired, cranky, and lose energy, making you less apt to exercise and less able to take good care of your baby. Cutting back too much on your caloric intake can also sabotage your weight loss efforts by forcing your body into starvation mode. When your body isnt getting enough fuel, it becomes much more efficient at using what you do give it, so that over time you will actually gain weight rather than lose it. You are much better off to eat well and get regular, moderate exercise to help shed those extra pounds. Remember though, that there is a big difference between eating and eating well! If you eat nourishing foods you will probably feel full sooner and you will likely need fewer calories than if you eat empty calorie foods like white bread and french fries. Eat a variety of healthy foods, including plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and make sure you are getting a proper balance of the major nutrients (protein, carbohydrate and healthy fats). You may want to talk to your doctor or midwife about continuing to take your pre-natal multivitamin, or other supplements, at least during the immediate post-partum period. Snacking is something youll probably want to do a lot of, either because you may not always have time to prepare a meal, or because the demands of caring for a new baby mean you get hungry more often. Here are a few ideas for good, nutrient-dense choices for snack foods: apple slices spread with low fat cream cheese and sprinkled with crushed walnuts yogurt with chopped fresh fruit and nuts whole grain toast with nut butter cheese with whole grain crackers or rice cakes tomato or mixed vegetable juice with a hard boiled egg On the other hand, try not to overdo it. Being pregnant or nursing a baby is not a license to indulge in a non-stop buffet of foods, even if they are nutritious! Eat when you are hungry, make healthy food choices most of the time, and remember that your baby is counting on you to choose wisely if youre breastfeeding, so make those calories count nutrient-wise. In part two of this article, youll learn why drinking plenty of pure water is important to weight loss in general, and to post-partum weight loss in particular. Youll also find out how many calories a day youll use by breastfeeding your baby. Part three will teach you how you can burn extra calories easily and enjoyably without huffing and puffing at the gym. Youll also learn the secret that savvy new moms use to effortlessly burn up to an extra 200 calories a day thats 2 pounds a month with no extra effort! Susan Peach is a retired La Leche League Leader, a dance and fitness instructor, and mother to two teenage boys. She is also the creator of Mambo Moms, a fun and gentle Latin dance based fitness program that helps new moms get back in shape while spending quality play time with their babies. Respite From Nicotine Addiction: Can Chantix Make It Possible

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Charles_Greg] Charles Greg It is affirmed that Chantix (Varenicline) is a Pizer Incl. manufactured quit smoking drug and is approved by the FDA (Food and Drugs Administration) for anti-smoking treatment in adults. Regarding the efficacy of Chantix the word has spread around that the drug induces the same effects of nicotine in the brain cells and provides relief from nicotine addiction. Are you convinced with the facts stated above? If you are not familiar with Chantix then you may be oblivious to the events surrounding the launching of drug in the pharmaceutical market, its approval by FDA and the results shown by the medication in treating smoking addiction in adults. As far as the manufacture of Chantix by Pfizer and its approval by FDA is concerned, there cannot be doubts regarding the accuracy of these facts as Chantix is well known to be a Pfizers product and the FDA approval gained by the drug on May 11, 2006 is also no longer a hidden secret. And finally the truth about the functional process of the drug? Well, truly Chantix functions by replacing the effects of nicotine in the brain and it is the real secret behind the success of the drug. The chief cause behind nicotine addiction is the pleasure feeling that the brain gets once the harmful substance combines with the nicotine receptor cells in the central nervous system of the brain. As the body gets hooked to the pleasure feeling induced by nicotine, the user suffers from nicotine cravings frequently and keeps on consuming cigarettes and other tobacco containing substances. But if by chance, he, who has been continuously suffering under the grip of the substance nicotine, comes across the anti-smoking medicine Chantix, his whole life is saved from falling apart. But the escape from nicotine addiction never happens overnight or within one or two hours after the administration of any medicine. A dedicated and persevered anti-smoking approach implemented in accordance with the instructions of the doctor yields successful results and slowly and gradually the person gets rid of the addictive effects of nicotine. On scrutinizing closely, it is revealed that the replacement of nicotine effects in the brain is the chief factor that ultimately leads to the user getting cured from nicotine. The administration of the quit smoking drug, Chantix results in the drug coming in contact with the nicotine receptor cells and as a consequence the person gets the same pleasure feeling supplied by nicotine without necessarily in taking the harmful substance to the body. Hopefully, the logic applied here makes sense to you and by now you have gained a fair idea on the anti-smoking drug [http://www.chantixhome.com/articles/chantix_mechanism_gains.html ] chantix. If this is not the case and you are not satisfied with what I have said till now then you are welcome to browse through the cyberspace and find your answer. And you may take another step: ask the doctor to clear your doubts on Chantix. The author addresses issues on the causes of smoking, its consequences and the quit smoking medication Chantix. The Deadliest Hurt Within A Relationship (5)

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Elaine Sihera A. Dishonesty & Betrayal. This happens in a relationship when there is infidelity, abuse, lies, lack of support, broken promises or violation of privacy. The foundation of any relationship is trust. Cheating and lying breaks down the basis for a relationship, often resulting in its demise. Resolving such a problem must be a top priority if the relationship is to survive. However, of all the elements of betrayal, infidelity is the most lethal and difficult to deal with because it goes to the heart of trust and appreciation. Trust is immediately lost, and this is coupled with a sense of abject rejection, of being inadequate and unwanted, which is hard to face and to accept. In these situations, counselling is highly recommended to defuse tension and facilitate the changes required. The interesting thing about sexual betrayal is that it has a different effect on the genders. Women, being more emotional, are much more frightened of their partners falling in love with someone else, especially someone younger, who might replace them totally; while men, being more physical, are more afraid of their spouses having sex with another person. Quite a big difference there. It could have something to do with the fact that women feel totally rejected in instances of betrayal their looks, body, charm, skills, personality, their whole person. They fear being replaced entirely by someone else more attractive; they dread being insignificant and unwanted. For men, not being desired is interpreted as a powerful rejection of their penis in essence, their manhood the core of their being. The thought of someone pleasuring their partners in ways which they have been deemed unfit to do (especially using penises imagined to be far bigger and better than their own!) immediately becomes a rejection of them as men. It throws them into competition with other men in ways they feel impotent to affect the situation and dramatically lowers their self-esteem. Men fear betrayal even worse than women. They often go on a lot about having been hurt but everyone gets hurt at some time. Life is not a bowl of cherries for some and hard knocks for others. It depends on how we deal with those crises which makes the real difference to our recovery. Resist Being a Martyr B. Self-Neglect. This is a tendency to put yourself last and to stress self-sacrifice. But martyrs are seldom happy and where there is only gloom, there is little satisfaction. More often, such martyrs are likely to be depressed, angry, resentful, bitter and burnt out with work and worry. This is not to say that you should not consider others and be thoughtful in meeting their needs, but not at the expense of your own. Having a healthy relationship involves factoring your own needs and desires into the equation. You have to teach people how to treat you, and, if you act like a doormat, you cant completely blame someone if they wipe their feet all over you. Learn how to stand up for yourself, practise assertive communication, ask and allow others to meet your needs, and take care of yourself as much as you take care of your loved ones. You will be around much longer to serve their needs! Other common problems include jealousy, being taken for granted, criticism and nagging, clinging dependency, bullying and loss of love, to name a few. There are many challenging barriers to having a good marriage/relationship, so the last thing one would expect any relationship to be is easy! That is why long relationships need to be encouraged, helped, applauded and used as role models for the sheer stickability of the partners in the face of continuous obstacles, rather than treated as the expected norm or taken for granted. Please remember that what is wrong in a relationship can often be put right, especially if the negative aspects are used as lessons rather than beating sticks. We can choose to learn from them, and find a better way to live, or ignore them altogether and perish. Each of these major issues is related to one or more negative patterns of thinking and feeling that are outwardly expressed in selfish behaviours; patterns which are usually learned in childhood and then perpetuated during ones lifetime. They are not exclusive to certain people. Everyone has these patterns which are no longer appropriate or productive. Only self-awareness, self-help and improvement will help us to cope in conflict situations and point us in the direction of where we really want to be with the ones we love. Natural Weight Loss Ideas

Friday, December 21st, 2007

By Steve Polk It’s no wonder, that with all the modern conveniences that society has to offer we have become a nation of overweight people. The rate of overweight Americans has climbed steadily as technology has made life easier. With that in mind, here are a few natural weight loss ideas. With just a few simple changes in our daily routine, you can lose a few extra pounds. 1) Buy a bicycle, and use it for short trips to visit friends or to pick up a few items at the store. 2) Don’t try to find the nearest parking spot to whatever store or event you are visiting. Isn’t it funny, how people going to a health club spend lots of time trying to find a parking space close to the entrance! You’ll burn a few extra calories and save some time by parking further away. 3) If your kids play a sport take a brisk walk around the park or field during their warm ups. This will help keep you warm while you are waiting. Take another players parents with you.. It’s a great way to get to know someone new. 4) Speed clean. Raking leaves? Sweeping the floor? Time yourself and see if you can beat your time the next time you do the same cleaning project. This works great on your weekly or daily cleaning rituals. I would not suggest this when cleaning the toilet! 5) Try speed walking when your taking your dog for a walk. It’s great exercise and your dog will enjoy the faster pace. 6) Every time a commercial comes on while your watching T.V. get up and just move around. Maybe a few sit ups, push ups, or see how many times you can walk to the other side or your house or apartment. 7) Make up your own list of natural weight loss ideas based on the ordinary things you do every day. With a little thought you’ll be able to come up with some clever ways to help you burn a few extra calories.
